Looking to buy or sell a secondhand Bunch Bike? We love seeing our older model bikes find new homes and make new families happy! A secondhand Bunch Bike can be a wonderful, affordable way to get started on your family's bike life.

In the past, our policy has been that we don't buy or sell secondhand bikes but can help facilitate and provide resources like our Bunch Bike Blue Book.

New for 2025 - we plan to pilot a limited number of secondhand sales directly through consignment on our site! Here's how this program will work.

Preparing for sale

Right now, our secondhand sales program is only available to Bunch Squad members and other longtime owners we know well. If you'd like to sell your bike with us, please shoot us an email!

From there, the process looks like this:

We verify the bike model, serial number, sales history and repair history.
The seller completes a detailed questionnaire and provide a photo set.
The seller brings the bike to an authorized mobile mechanic or bike shop to complete a pre-purchase inspection.
The bike shop provides a full tuneup including any consumable parts needing replacement, such as new brake pads or chain. Seller pays for this service.
The bike shop shares a detailed report documenting any outstanding issues (eg "Some front brake squeak") and any predicted future issues (eg "Rear wheel is ok for now, but may need rebuilding in the future.")

Listing the bike

Bunch team works with the seller to agree to an asking price for the bike as well as a minimum sale price in case of any discount or special promotion.
Bunch team creates a listing on our website with photos and details about the bike. We'll feature the bike in our Discount Bikes section, link to it in our emails and reach out to our local networks to spread the word!
Once listed on our site, the bike may NOT be cross listed for sale elsewhere. Seller can still advertise and spread the word, but checkout can be completed only through our site. This helps avoid unfortunate "oops, we sold the same bike twice" situations as well as unfair or unethical price conflicts.

Advantages!

Buyers can use credit card, Shop Pay, or monthly financing through Affirm to pay for the bike! This eliminates one of the most common obstacles to secondhand sales.
Buyers can access detailed, independently verified information about the bike's condition and history.
Bunch team can provide cross-country transportation to/from most US locations. The shipping process does take 6-8 weeks to complete.
Buyers and sellers can both trust that payment will be processed appropriately, bike will be delivered as promised, and any questions or disputes can be resolved with help from Bunch team.
Buyers receive free shipping on any additional accessories ordered with their bikes, even though these will ship separately from Bunch.
Sellers who plan to purchase a new Bunch Bike can receive bonus trade-in credit!

Of course, plenty of folks resell bikes locally via their neighborhood groups or Facebook Marketplace, rather than through Bunch Bikes! If you live in an area with lots of cargo bike families, selling locally on your own may be just as easy and more profitable.

Selling the bike

Once a buyer purchases the bike, it will show up as "out of stock" on our site.
We will arrange local pickup or cross-country transport as needed.
If the seller selects a cash payout, we will send the seller their first payment (typically $2,000 to $5,000 depending on the bike's model, condition, and accessories) via check, PayPal, or Zelle on the day the bike is picked up.
Bunch team keeps 22%-23% of the sale proceeds as our consignment fee. A $500 dispute deposit is placed on hold for 30 days.
If the seller selects a trade-in, we waive our consignment fee and the dispute deposit, as well as covering payment processing fees for you. You receive full credit for the entire sale price of your bike!
The buyer has 30 days from delivery to confirm that the bike is in the expected condition and includes all expected parts and accessories. If any questions or disputes arise during this time, Bunch team will assist in resolving them. Please note that Bunch Bikes is not able to provide a warranty on secondhand bikes; however, we can assist with transferring an existing Mulberry extended warranty.
The dispute deposit may be used to address any problems that arise from the seller's responsibility - for example, if the keys cannot be located, we may deduct $50 from the dispute deposit to provide a new key set.

What comes next?

A new family gets to enjoy an awesome pre-loved Bunch Bike minivan at a great price!
We have detailed info about the new family's bike and its history, so we can easily support with any needed parts, upgrades, accessories or repairs.
The new family is welcome to join Bunch Squad and participate fully in all of our Bunch Bike programs and community initiatives. (Bonus fun fact: This is true for all secondhand owners, not just those who purchase through our site!)
The seller is considered a retired or emeritus Bunch Squad member. You can choose to continue appearing on our map to answer questions, or to remove your pin so it's clear you no longer offer test rides. We're happy to continue supporting your community events too - once Bunch Fam, always Bunch Fam!
