The DMV leads the nation in family biking.
A cargo bike is the best way to skip the traffic snarls, car lines and parking hassles, ditch the second car and cruise the city in style!
Washington DC is Bunch Bike's East Coast HQ - you’ll find a wealth of resources, events and connections to help you get started.
Meet Your DMV Bunch Fam
With 4 partner bike shops and 15+ Bunch Squad members in our DMV network - we can probably hook you up with a rental, a demo at a playground near you, or a “where can I park” session at your home!

Lelac in NoMa
I came to family biking with zero experience or confidence - I just wanted a better way to get around with my kids. Almost 20,000 miles later - it’s definitely changed my life. I haven’t looked for parking since 2019! I now also work for Bunch so I can come to you pretty much anytime.

Kameya in Silver Spring
We love biking as a family and wanted to spend more time outdoors together. Enter the Bunch Bike!

Annie in Georgetown
I have never loved biking, and this makes me actually want to hop on a bike. The Bunch Bike is so different to me. It is so stable and easy to control. I always felt like bikes controlled me before, but I've never felt that way on a Bunch.

Kasey in Arlington
We already had a longtail bike but wanted a box bike to tote our kids and haul stuff like groceries. Basically a car replacement! It brings me joy to ride around with my kids.
DC Community Events
We're proud to be a part of monthly family bike rides, annual family biking events and lots more opportunities to build community in DC and advocate for family biking!

Annual celebration of all things family biking! 1200+ people, half a dozen neighborhood rides, Glide To Ride clinic, library trike storytime, Kids Bike Parade, snow cones, food trucks, and a BIG raffle that doubles as a SafeStreetsDC fundraiser!
Sponsored by Bunch Bikes in partnership with WABA, usually the Sunday after Labor Day

Monthly “Kidical Mass” slow rides - fully marshalled, police escorted, we take over the entire roadway!
Fun and safe for kids on their own bikes or on cargo bikes, typically with a Bunch sagwagon in the rear.

Celebrated fall and spring at many D.C.-area schools, with a larger celebration at Lincoln Park.
Many Bunch Squad members organize at their own schools - it’s super easy, click here to learn how! Some families are organizing weekly bike buses as well.

Test ride dozens of bikes, meet local shops and orgs - plus check out cooking demos, solar info, appliance petting zoo and lots more at Healthy Homes Fair! Bounce house and ice cream truck too.

An active and welcoming Facebook group for sharing route tips, swapping gear, buying/selling bikes, learning about events and building community in Washington DC.

How to Rent a Bunch Bike in DC
Sightseeing in DC - or have family coming to town?
E-bikes are the best way to tour the monuments and National Mall, enjoy the cherry blossoms and the Arboretum or just get around with your whole group! No parking, no traffic, just roll right up to your destination and lock up anywhere.
You can rent a Bunch Bike to carry children, babies, elders, or anyone who prefers not to cycle independently. Plus strap on strollers, backpacks and gear!
View Rental LocationsParking and Insuring a Bunch Bike in DC
No garage? No problem! Many of our DC Bunch Bike families park behind a row house, in the front yard, on an alley, in an apartment garage, or even on street parking - just like you would park a car. You do not need to store your cargo bike inside your home!
Use our outdoor parking package to get started or contact us for a parking consultation at your home.
Out and about? Use the wheel lock for short, low-risk stops at the library or preschool. Or add a chain lock, storage cover, and alarm for higher-risk situations.
You can back a Bunch Bike into a bike rack, or lock the bike to itself to immobilize it if you prefer. It’s much too heavy for a thief to pick up and carry!
Some families add the bike to their home insurance. You can also purchase bike-specific insurance from Velosurance, Lemonade or Oyster.
However, we find that DC bike theft is more often a crime of opportunity. Be scrupulous about locking up your bike - every single time you walk away. Don’t let someone take advantage of that one time you were in a hurry!
