It's our awesome fourth annual celebration of driving less, doing more, and enjoying family time together - by bike!

Celebrate your trips, share your progress, connect with your community - and score awesome prizes 😎

Open to everyone

Our #CarFreeChallenge is open to everyone - not just Bunch fam.

We welcome family bikes, dog bikes, cargo bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes, unicycles, onewheels, recumbents, and dinosaur bikes.

If it has wheels - it counts!

This year's challenge

Without further ado - we're proud to present this year's challenge board!

For new owners

Purchase a new Bunch Bike Sept. 22 to Oct. 22, 2025.

Complete your #CarFreeChallenge (any row, column, diagonal, or lightning square) within 30 days of receiving your Bunch Bike.

You'll win your very own #CarFreeChallenge decal - and a $350 instant rebate on your Bunch Bike!

For everyone

Complete your #CarFreeChallenge between Sept. 22 and Oct. 22, 2025 - and share your progress.

Everyone who completes the challenge gets a decal, bragging rights and a gift credit! Bunch Squad members also earn Squad Points.

We will also select up to 3 outstanding entries as Grand Prize Winners.

Each Grand Prize winner will get to put together their own prize package with up to $350 in upgrades, gifts, goodies and swag!

How it works

- Save the challenge board graphic to your phone or computer so you can add check marks or emojis as you complete each square.

- You can complete the squares in any order.

- When you complete a square, check it off! Only one square per trip, though. Be strategic!

- Take a photo or video of your adventures and tag us @bunchbikes #CarFreeChallenge to share your progress.

- When you complete a row, column, or diagonal, you win!

- Any⚡square is an instant win.

- All winners receive the official #CarFreeChallenge 2025 decal. So you can celebrate and share your adventures in active transport!

- Many Bunch Squad members also compete to try to fill the entire board, max out their mileage or get creative with their entries. Check out some epic performances from last year here!

Designed for access

We know that every square may not be possible for every family. That's okay!

We also know that experienced bike families will find some squares very easy. That's okay too!

We've designed the board to be as accessible as possible for folks with a wide range of lifestyles, mobility needs, and local infrastructure options.

Even if you can't complete the whole board - we hope you can find a row, column or diagonal that works for you.

The fine print

You have 30 days to complete the challenge.

If you are purchasing a new bike during this period, you have 30 days from your #NewBikeDay - that's the day after you receive your bike!

All other participants should complete the challenge Sept. 22 - Oct. 22.

You must complete your board and request your prizes within one week of the end of your challenge!

Please contact us if you need an extension due to illness or any medical or adaptive need.

To document mileage: Take a pic of your odometer at the beginning and end. Make sure the pic is timestamped. You can also use google maps or strava, or track on paper.

To document trips: Take a picture and check off the square!

A trip starts and ends at home. Playground, then library, then store, then home = 1 trip.

Each trip can only count for one golden square. In other words, if you are joining a bike bus while wearing a tuxedo and carrying a cooler full of popsicles - you can still only check off one square, not all three!

Trading in a car means reducing your total number of cars (ie, selling a car and not replacing it) within the 30 days before/after purchasing a cargo bike.

All other squares are open to your individual interpretation!
