Bunch Bikes Hires Industry Veteran, Nicholas Erdos-Thayer to Lead Product Development

Denton, Texas, May 3rd, 2022—Bunch Bikes, the leading front-loading cargo ebike company in North America, announced today the hire of Nicholas Erdos-Thayer as Manager of Product Development and Sourcing.
“Until now, our cargo bikes have been heavily influenced by the design trends of the European cargo bike market.” says Bunch Bikes CEO and Founder Aaron Powell. “But over the last 5 years, we’ve learned a lot about our customers’ needs and the pain points unique to family biking. With Nick on the Bunch team, we’ll be utilizing his skills and industry connections to meet those needs with innovative and family friendly designs.”
Erdos-Thayer was most recently a Product Manager for Salsa Cycles at Quality Bicycle Products (QBP), where he managed the Road and Gravel product line for the last three years. Prior to working with Salsa, Erdos-Thayer served as a Product Development Project Manager for Surly Bikes, another QBP brand. Nick was also a Supply Chain Planner for multiple brands, among other roles, during his 10-year tenure at QBP.
“I’m passionate about getting people on bikes and was looking to lead product development for a company that’s eager to develop something new,” says Erdos-Thayer. “Being in the industry for the last 10 years, I’ve made connections and have the ability to collaborate with many key partners. I see that ebikes have changed the landscape of mobility, and I see an opportunity to align my passion with Bunch’s mission."
The hire comes after Bunch Bikes experienced increased demand during the pandemic and, more recently, from families seeking alternatives to the driving in the car amidst rising costs for both fuel and automobiles in the US. Bunch Bikes also saw demand rise after debuting on national television in an episode of ABC’s Shark Tank, an appearance that resulted in a split investment from ‘Sharks’ Barbara Corcoran and Robert Herjavec.
“Not being from the bicycle industry was an advantage when I started,” says Powell. “I wasn’t hindered by expectations for how things were supposed to be done. It did, however, slow us down on product development. I'm excited to see what Bunch Bikes and Nick will be able to bring to the family cargo bike market in the near future.”
